For years, BlackBerry has provided the best, most secure and affordable mobile options to the public sector. We’ve always sought innovative ways to meet the mobile needs of government IT managers. We’ve heard them say they need a mobile solution that’s secure and easy to manage while simultaneously allowing their employees to collaborate and stay productive as they complete critical government work.

With the emergence of the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) trend, IT managers face a new set of challenges, such as maintaining top security while meeting the demands of a workforce that wants to use any device, from anywhere and at anytime.

With BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 and BlackBerry 10 devices, we’re committed to meeting the device management and development needs for IT administrators, while also ensuring that end-users get the experience they want across apps, devices and work flow.

This SlideShare deck provides a deeper overview of how BlackBerry is meeting the mobility needs of governments.

We are confident that the re-invented BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 (BES 10) meets BYOD challenges. BES 10 can manage all BlackBerry, iOS and Android platforms in one single dashboard, meaning greater choice of device for users. Yet, it’s still very secure. We’re proud that BlackBerry continues to receive top security certifications from governments and third party organizations around the world.

The BlackBerry Z10 and Q10 offer exceptional smartphone capabilities, including features and apps like BlackBerry Hub and BlackBerry Keyboard, that work together seamlessly to deliver the ultimate user experience. The BBM Video with Screen Share is particularly helpful to government employees who need to share documents or hold meetings outside of the office. They can easily video chat with their colleagues, sharing and editing documents together while on the chat.

We have a proven track record with public sectors across the world and with BlackBerry 10 we look forward to the continuation of meeting government mobility needs.

Are you a BlackBerry fan and work in the public sector? Let us know below how you think BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 and BlackBerry 10 devices can help government.

It’s time to get your business migrated to the latest enterprise mobility management technology. Whether you’re considering adopting a BYOD approach, looking to integrate enterprise apps into your processes and workflow, or everything in between, BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 version 10.1 has got what you need.

We recently published an overview of the features of BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 version 10.1. The update includes a simplified deployment experience, more extensive EMM controls for customers in regulated industries, dashboard enhancements, and unified cross-platform administration. Today I’d like to focus on how you can upgrade to BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 version 10.1, including some new offers and discounts that you can take advantage of.

So you’ve got a BlackBerry Enterprise Server 4…

If you’re still running BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 4, the first thing that you’ll want to do is upgrade to BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 5.0.4. This way, you’ll be able to add on BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 and take advantage of all of the fantastic functionality and consolidate your view to all your BlackBerry devices. The good news is that we’re offering upgrades from BlackBerry Enterprise Server 4 to BlackBerry Enterprise Server 5 for FREE (a $995 USD value)! Learn more and take advantage of the offer by heading over to www.blackberry.com/blackberry10ready.

Once you’ve updated to BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 5.0.4, read on to continue on your migration path to BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 version 10.1.

So you’ve got a BlackBerry Enterprise Server 5…

With BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 version 10.1, you can now install the software on a single physical or virtual server and eliminate a separate server for BlackBerry Enterprise Server 5. Head over to www.blackberry.com/bes10 and download a free 60-day trial, purchase licenses, or find a reseller.

If you’re updating your fleet of BlackBerry smartphones to BlackBerry 10 models, you can trade up Client Access Licenses (CAL’s) from BlackBerry Enterprise Server 5 to BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 for free on a one-for-one basis until December 31st, 2013. Learn more and trade up licenses at www.blackberry.com/licensetradeup.

So you’ve got a BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10…

Good! Now all that you need is version 10.1. It’s available as a free download from www.blackberry.com/bes10 and can be installed quickly and simply onto your existing deployment. You’ll also need to migrate your BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 Client Access Licenses to version 10.1. As always, it’s easy to migrate and it won’t cost you a thing.

Get up and running with BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10.1! All of the details, including why you should upgrade in the first place, can be found at the newly redesigned www.blackberry.com/blackberry10ready.

BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 version 10.1 is free to download and existing BlackBerry Enterprise Server 5 customers can exchange their client access licenses for free through 2013. To date, 12,000 BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 servers have been installed by customers around the world.

What’s included in version 10.1?

Regulated-level EMM. BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 version 10.1 provides customers with an optional set of extended IT policy settings and controls that restricts the use of a BlackBerry 10 smartphone for work only (does not allow personal apps and content).

Simplified deployment for a lower total cost of ownership. Following a simple installation process, customers will be able to use BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 version 10.1 to manage BlackBerry 10 smartphones, BlackBerry® PlayBook™ tablets, iOS and Android devices, as well as earlier model BlackBerry smartphones. Upgrading to BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 version 10.1 is simple and intuitive, and existing BlackBerry Enterprise Server 5 customers can quickly upgrade to BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 version 10.1 with no firewall changes.

Dashboard and reporting. New dashboard capabilities provide an “at-a-glance” graphical view of information and statistics associated with the customer’s complete fleet of devices, providing administrators with immediate access to the information they need. The dashboard displays a high level overview of information such as a device deployment summary by platform and carrier, device compliance state, application deployments, and more.

High Availability. All components of BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 can now be deployed in a highly available active/passive configuration, similar to the high availability support offered by BlackBerry Enterprise Server 5.0. It offers simple, easy to configure threshold settings and improved failover performance.

BlackBerry Support is now included as standard. Care** now comes as standard with BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 deployments***, providing 12×5 telephone access to BlackBerry experts, responsive online support, access to training, productivity and diagnostic tools. Extended technical support offerings are available.

Get the update

The BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 version 10.1 server software is available as a free download at www.bes10.com. Annual client access licenses (CALs) are free for BlackBerry Enterprise Server 5 customers trading up existing BlackBerry Enterprise Server 5 CALs through 2013*, or can be purchased for $59 per year per device.

Mobile devices have transformed the workplace, allowing employees to communicate via phone, e-mail, video, the Internet, and other tools from virtually any location. This transformation has generated increasing popularity of working from home, or “teleworking.”

A number of businesses and government agencies have adopted telework initiatives to reduce costs, ensure continuity of operations, and minimize their carbon footprints. For example, participants in Arizona’s telework program drive an estimated 5.25 million fewer miles, generate 175,000 fewer pounds of air pollution and endure 181,000 fewer hours of stressful driving time per year. The United States Treasury Department saves an estimated $1 million annually on facilities costs though its telework program. Both BlackBerry 10 and BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 include capabilities that can help organizations make teleworking possible.

The new BlackBerry 10 platform is built for business, providing a range of features and applications that allow teleworkers to maintain constant communication with supervisors and colleagues. Consider BBM Video Chat and Screen Sharing on BlackBerry 10: the videoconferencing capabilities provide managers with face-to-face communications with teleworking employees, while screen sharing is integrated with Documents To Go for seamless collaboration. In addition, advanced collaboration apps such as BlackBerry Work Drives and Citrix WebEx Meetings, among other business apps, allow teleworkers to access business information and stay connected with colleagues on the go. These tools ensure that teleworkers have all the tools that they need to stay connected and work effectively, wherever they are.

While mobile access is crucial for teleworkers, it is equally important to ensure that their mobile experiences are secure and do not compromise information or data. Enterprise Mobility Management platforms such as BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 make managing a network of mobile devices simpler. BlackBerry Enterprise Service manages multiple device platforms, users, groups, applications, and policies from a single web-based interface. Learn more:

Organizations experimenting with teleworking will need to provide employees with the relevant tools while managing them in a simple, secure way. By doing so, they will enjoy the operational, cost-cutting and time-saving benefits that teleworking can offer.

What is your organization’s teleworking policy, and what devices and other tools are available for teleworking employees?

More than just an event, HIMSS is a not-for-profit organization representing nearly 50,000 individual members as well as 570 corporate members.

BlackBerry technology has a legacy in the healthcare industry, and we’re very excited about the potential that BlackBerry 10 has to transform patient care and access to data. With Machine to Machine (or M2M) as a hot topic at this year’s conference, we fit right in with our new QNX-based mobile computing platform. At the BlackBerry Booth attendees were able to get hands-on with BlackBerry 10 as well as to explore what we have to offer the nursing industry including secure messaging, Voice over IP (VOIP), barcode scanning, multi-user capabilities, and a strong mobile ecosystem.

We’re looking forward to further developing our healthcare solutions and to seeing the BlackBerry 10 platform reach its full potential in the industry. With BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 providing multi-platform management and the upcoming Secure Work Space solution for iOS and Android devices, BlackBerry is in a solid position to remain a trusted partner of healthcare service providers worldwide.

We’ve briefly mentioned a few of our future plans for BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 in the past, but today we’d like to share a preview of how secure enterprise mobility management is growing and evolving to meet the needs of businesses worldwide with Secure Work Space for iOS and Android devices. BlackBerry has and continues to be the only choice for enterprises with security, functionality, and collaborative mobile strategies in mind. As needs evolve and IT departments face an ever-growing variety of devices being brought into the workplace, we’re building our solutions to match your needs and priorities.

BlackBerry security capabilities for data-at-rest and data-in-transit will soon be extended to iOS and Android devices; both for smartphones and tablets. A separate and secure work space will hold corporate apps, work email, calendar, contacts, and more. Administrators can configure, secure, wipe, and interact with the Secure Work Space, while employees can enjoy a work and personal experience on a single device. Check out just a few of the benefits:

Trusted BlackBerry security extended to iOS and Android

No need for an expensive VPN infrastructure to secure data in transit

Third party MDM providers and multiple vendors aren’t required – we’ve designed Secure Work Space to be managed by BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 from a single console

Deployment is straightforward, with all components on a single server

Global and flexible technical support is available for all aspects of the solution, even further reducing the need for multiple IT and mobility vendors

Secure Work Space for iOS and Android devices allows businesses to meet the needs (and pressures) of employees with the trusted legacy of BlackBerry security applied. Additionally, considerable effort and expense is saved as no expensive and complex VPN infrastructure is required. You’re provided with one vendor who has designed the Secure Work Space solution, the industry-leading security standards, the enterprise mobility management solution, and who provides global technical support at flexible tiers.

Closed beta testing for Secure Work Space on iOS and Android devices is already underway. General availability will be offered by the end of the second quarter, calendar year 2013. We’re excited to share many more details at our BlackBerry Live conference in May 2013.
