There’s always significant anticipation for the BlackBerry Live keynote general session , and this year was no different as attendees, partners, customers, and developers were able to experience the vision for the future here at BlackBerry. App launches (including Skype for BlackBerry Z10 smartphones!), game demos, the launch of BBM Channels, a reinforced commitment to enterprise with an update of BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10, the 10.1 software update for the BlackBerry Z10, a new entry-level BlackBerry 10 smartphone coming for select emerging markets, and the future of mobile computing stacked together to pack one serious punch.

Government Day Highlights from BlackBerry Live 2013 [VIDEO]

At Government Day during BlackBerry Live we get serious about secure, connected, and productive mobile solutions for government, law enforcement, and healthcare. This year Jeff Holleran, Sr. Director of Enterprise Product Management, shared a sneak peek into the future of BlackBerry’s enterprise roadmap, David J Smith, EVP Enterprise Mobile Computing, spoke on the future vision for mobile computing, and much more. Enterprise Developers Take Advantage of the BlackBerry 10 Platform

At last week’s BlackBerry Experience Forum in Toronto, I visited the partner showcase area to interview a few of our enterprise developers in attendance. The BlackBerry 10 app ecosystem is definitely robust, and we’re committed to telling these success stories with our Inside BlackBerry for Business Blog readers. I’ll be going on the road to interview more developers as the BlackBerry Experience Forum continues on its world tour. Building a Strong BlackBerry Enterprise Developer Community

Cisco, SAP, Box, Bloomberg, The Wall Street Journal, Truphone, and BigHand are just some of the companies whose applications, used daily by millions of customers worldwide, are available on the BlackBerry 10 platform.

“The developer community for enterprise and government has been incredible in the support of BlackBerry 10,” said Derek Peper, Vice President, Enterprise Partnerships, BlackBerry. “The community sees the potential of the BlackBerry 10 platform to help individuals and organizations make the shift from mobile communications to mobile computing, and have stepped forward with powerful, dynamic and user-friendly applications that are designed to empower employees around the globe.”

BlackBerry made a significant commitment to developers for BlackBerry 10, making it fast and efficient for organizations to develop and manage applications. Developers were provided with toolkits that included the BlackBerry 10 Native SDK with Cascades to create graphically rich, high performance native apps in C/C++ or the Qt Modeling Language (QML); and the BlackBerry 10 WebWorks SDK for HTML5 developers, allowing them to create native-like apps using common web programming technologies (HTML5, CSS and JavaScript).

BlackBerry launched BlackBerry Partners for Enterprise in 2012 to succeed the BlackBerry Alliance program and increase support to the enterprise software and services community. BlackBerry also rolled out the BlackBerry 10 Jam World Tour – Enterprise Edition to 11 cities to help enterprise application developers and partners develop for or port existing applications to BlackBerry 10.
